NEET 2021 Result: NTA reached the Supreme Court to lift the ban on the declaration of NEET result, challenged the decision of Bombay High Court.
NEET 2021 Result: The NTA has argued that the NEET exam was conducted on September 12, 2021 for over 16 lakh candidates. But the effect of the High Court order is that even though the result is ready, it is not able to declare the result.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has challenged in the Supreme Court the order of the Bombay High Court staying the declaration of results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate courses. The High Court had suspended the declaration of results to conduct the NEET exam again for the two affected candidates.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned the NTA’s appeal before a bench headed by Chief Justice Justice NV Ramanna on Monday. The CJI was keen to refer it to a bench hearing NEET cases, but on Mehta’s request, the CJI said he would take a decision after going through the case file.

Two students had submitted before the High Court that their test booklets and OMR sheets were mixed up during the NEET exam held on September 12, 2021. He was said to have fallen down when the inspectors started distributing test booklets. As a result the test booklet and OMR sheet received by both the candidates got mixed up. Hence the High Court had directed the NTA to conduct separate examination for these two candidates before declaring the result.
In its appeal filed before the Supreme Court, the NTA has argued that the NEET exam was conducted on September 12, 2021 for over 16 lakh candidates. But the effect of the High Court order is that even though the result is ready, it is not able to declare the result. The plea said that the delay in the declaration of result would affect the process of admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS and BHMS courses and further delay.
